THE THERAPEUTIC PROCESS

A space to better understand what your family needs

How we work together

Parent counselling focuses on the specific difficulties you face day to day and how they affect your relationship with your child or teenager.

Together we look at new ways of communicating, setting boundaries and responding to your child’s needs, without ready-made recipes or a one-size-fits-all approach.

What you can expect

A space where you can talk openly about the worries, doubts and challenges of parenting.

The process helps you gain more clarity and make choices that suit your own family.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do both parents need to take part?

Where possible, involving both parents can help build a fuller picture. However, counselling can also take place with one parent, depending on the family’s needs and circumstances.

Do the meetings take place without the child?

Yes. Parent counselling takes place with the parents and focuses on understanding the difficulties, the family dynamics and ways to better support the child. If it would help for the child to take part, family therapy including them can be arranged.

How often are meetings needed?

Frequency depends on the family’s needs and the goals of counselling, and is agreed when we start working together.

Can meetings take place online?

Yes, online meetings are possible where this is appropriate and meets the parents’ needs.

What can I expect from the first meeting?

In the first meeting we talk about your concerns regarding your child or family life, the difficulties you are facing and what you would like to improve through counselling.

Would you like to talk about what concerns you as parents?

We can start with a first conversation and look at the next steps together.
