THE THERAPEUTIC PROCESS
A safe way for a child to express what they cannot always put into words
How we work together
The therapeutic process adapts to the child’s age and way of expressing themselves. Play, creativity and conversation can all be ways in which a child communicates their experience.
Working with parents is an important part of the process and is shaped around the child’s needs.
What you can expect
A steady, safe therapeutic space where the child can express themselves without pressure and gradually develop ways of understanding and managing their emotions.
Progress is discussed with parents respectfully and discreetly, while protecting the child’s privacy and what they choose to share during sessions.

About me →Frequently Asked Questions
How does psychotherapy work for a child?
Psychotherapy adapts to each child’s age, needs and way of expressing themselves. Communication can happen through conversation, play and other creative means that help the child express and understand what they are going through.
How are parents involved in the process?
Working with parents is an important part of the therapeutic process. Update meetings are held with the parents, with the child present, so that the child can be supported as well as possible, with respect for their privacy and for what they choose to share in sessions.
How does the first meeting work?
The first meeting takes place with the parents, to discuss what led them to seek support, the child’s needs and relevant background. After that, we agree the most suitable way to begin the process with the child.
From what age can a child start psychotherapy?
Psychotherapeutic support can begin at preschool age, from around the age of 3. The approach adapts to each child’s age, developmental stage and needs.
How often do sessions take place?
Frequency depends on the child’s age and needs, and is agreed with the parents when we start working together.
Would you like to talk about what your child needs?
We can start with a first conversation and look at the next steps together.
